Transtectonics - Wiesner Gallery

Speculations on craft traditions and material narratives in the age of the Anthropocene. At the time when the power of material processes by human civilization compared to that of titanic natural forces -volcanoes, tsunamis, tectonic plates-humans became a geological force. Material speculations on geological craft, transforming the process of construction into a process of experimentation through unorthodox tectonic translations. Geology and technology translated into actions that relate to "material, place, and process"-folding, eroding, laminating, pouring, carving, melting, exploding...

Historical timelines embedded in material prototypes that bear remains of their material narratives and events: from their geological origins -faktur-, to the traces of the processing tools and workmanship -tectur-; from the geographical origin of materials, to the cultural traditions they embody.
